Recipe Rhubarb Hibiscus Butter

Lightly sweet and tart with delicate floral notes, this small batch fruit butter captures all the flavourful lightness of spring in a jar! Naturally sweetened with pure maple syrup, this luscious spread is dense, smooth, and a cinch to make. Perfect on our toasted slices of our Sprouted Power breads and bagels…the perfect start, or pick-me-up, to any day.
Ingredients
- 3 cups rhubarb chopped
- 1 hibiscus tea bag
- ¼ cup boiling water
- ⅓ cup maple syrup
Instructions
- Steep hibiscus tea in hot water for 5 minutes. Remove tea bag and transfer steeped tea to a medium saucepan with rhubarb and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer until the rhubarb is very soft, 15 to 20 minutes.
- Add maple syrup and continue cooking until smooth and thick, an additional 10 to 15 minutes, stirring often.
- Let cool before storing in the refrigerator. Enjoy on our Sprouted Power™ Plain Bagels.
